Having tried The Dalmore 12 a few years back, the 15 was instantly added to my wish list and subsequently purchased. The Dalmore 15 is matured for 12 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, before spending a further three years split between three different sherry (matusalem, apostoles and amoroso) casks.
Cost: £50-55
Appearance: Golden syrup
Aroma: Incredibly inviting nose. An abundance of dried fruits and an aroma almost like a PX Sherry. Orange peel, boozy cherries and melted chocolate round off this nose.
Taste: The nose promises so much and the palate delivers. Freshly baked fruit cake. Lots of raisins and cherries mixed in with a honeyed sweetness. Some winter spices and a nutty finish.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, light and creamy.
Overall: Superb dram, which delivers lots of sweet and fruity notes on both the nose and palate. This is a step up from The Dalmore 12 and I can see this dram taking up permanent residence on my shelf.
Real Dram Factor: 8.0
