Fife Whisky Festival is returning for a second year in March of 2019. It takes place in The Corn Exchange in Cupar, which was built in 1862 and is the perfect venue for a whisky festival. With over 30 distilleries and independent bottlers from all over Scotland showcasing their whisky wares, there are loads of amazing drams to try. To celebrate the launch of early bird tickets, we were chosen to take part in a tweet tasting, sampling drams from around the area.
The first secret whisky to be tasted was The Lost Distillery Companies Stratheden blended whisky. You can find out more information on The Lost Distillery website.

ABV: 43%
Appearance: Very light and straw like
Aroma: The initial aromas that come from this dram are kola cubes, creamy vanilla custard, sweet just baked sponge cake and zesty, juicy pineapples. Later there were some more nutty aromas, almonds and maybe even coconut.
Taste: This whisky is a surprise on the palate and I say that because it is very different from the nose. It is still subtle, but there is somehow less depth. It is a mix of light musty chimney smoke, sweet crisp apples, creamy vanilla and a dry hay like quality.
This splits between a very sweet beginning, where the pineapple, cream and vanilla are present. This is followed by the youthful spice, which warms the mouth with cinnamon and a waft of smoke. As the dram sits on the palate the smoke is left behind and it lingers.
Mouthfeel: A surprising mix of flavours, which was sweet and smoky at the same time.
Overall: This was a really enjoyable whisky that developed as we drank it. It was only the second whisky that we have tried by the Lost Distillery Company and it made me want to try more.
