Aroma: Classic Bourbon aromas; sweet cherry, creamy vanillas and deep, rich oaky woodiness. There is a boozy headiness to these flavours that shouts higher ABV at your nostrils.
Taste: Initially very sweet and full of the same notes as a well crisped Creme Brûlée – creamy vanilla and caramelised sugar. In the middle there is a rich spiciness, which gives way to the cherry notes of the aroma and floods into a dry, warming peppery spice.
Real Dram Factor: This is your archetypal high proof bourbon. Akin to a shire horse, it does the heavy lifting in a no frills way. All the component parts are put together well to create a solid and incredibly well priced bourbon. It would make for a fantastic cocktail whiskey.
You Will Like This If… you drink Old Fashioneds whilst watching Mad Men.

Ezra Brooks 99
Aroma: This bourbon has a much more gentle nasal palate. The first notes that came to mind were caramel coated apples. There is a corn whisky feel too, somehow vegetal, whilst sweet and oaky.
Taste: At first there is a delicate honeyed sweetness to this whisky. This gives way to the buttery vegetal fruitiness of the corn content of the middle. This part is somehow coppery as well. Then the end is spicy, with a black pepper fruity warmth to it, which sits in the middle of the tongue and clings to the top of your mouth.
Real Dram Factor: This offers a different experience to the first high proof bourbon. It is mellower, rounder and less punchy than its flash review partner. If I extended the horse metaphor a little too far, then I would say that this is a show pony. A few less tricks than the first horse, but no less pleasant overall.
You Will Like This If… you like to feel like you are drinking on the farm with the Waltons.
