What is your favourite unexplained thing? Mine is those shops at the seaside that only sell things that have no purpose, no real monetary value and no place in anyone’s daily life. Just how is it possible that they are all still in business and where are all the things that people buy from them? Who is wearing the “I caught crabs at Lowestoft” t-shirt and where do all the animals made of shells live out their lives? I am not sure anyone knows the answer to these questions and maybe that is a good thing.
Aroma: This nose of this whisky sits somewhere in between a newly opened packet of custard creams; a paper bag of pear drops and newly polished antique oak sideboard.
Taste: The vanilla notes of the nose are fully present at the start of this whisky, they are creamy, almost buttery and take the form of my Nan’s Egg Custard Tarts in my mind. The middle is more about cinnamon and the dram morphs to a well-made bowl of creamy porridge. Its final notes are fruitier, with stewed pears and apples to the fore and have an almost coppery quality to them.
Real Dram Factor: This is an exploration into age, grain whisky and just how many deserts it is possible for one whisky to taste like – 7.3
You will like this if: like me, a large proportion of life has become a mystery to you.
