There is beauty in a big measure. They happen for many different reasons, but all of them are important. Sometimes it is that sense of rebellion as you move from the should do to the want to do. Sometimes, it is generously sharing something that you love. Sometimes, it is a commiseration for a love lost or a tricky day endured. Whatever the reason, you need some whiskies in your house that you can happily over pour; AnCnoc 12-Year-Old is a perfect candidate.
Aroma: The first nose of this whisky makes me think of toffee crisps, full of milk chocolate, cereal and buttery toffee. Straight away my mind is off through the midst’s of time, eating large slabs of toffee crisp slice and I am in a happy place. On further nosing, there is zesty lemon note that comes through too, counterpointing the sweetness.
Taste: The start of this dram is slight and slow to reveal. It has a sultana sweetness and egg custard like creaminess.
The middle is honeyed and there is a cinnamon like spice that builds and entices.
The finish is a heathery, peppery warmth that builds and coats the tongue with an aniseed like spice. It has coppery notes, that almost evoke its creation in the still.
Real Dram Factor: Stuck in bakery, dreaming of all the things behind the glass – 7.0
