What does it take to change your mind about something?
I can’t say that I have ever been a massive Dalmore fan. My impression to this point has always been that their whisky is good, but the branding is too flashy and the price point of even their 12 Year Old too high. However, the whisky world has changed; prices have risen and age statements have dropped. So, it was good timing to get chance to reassess during the latest tweet tasting.
Aroma: Tinned tangerines, sweet yet with that acidic tang. Then it becomes a creamy chocolate with a caramel inside.
Taste: At first sweet, with a big floral honey.
The middle is still sweet but also fruity, with a Tarte Tatin vibe
The finish is silky caramel, creamy buttery pastry with a gentle, long cinnamon warmth.
Real Dram Factor: This is a classy whisky, it isn’t an explosive whisky, but it is layered and complex – 7.0.
You will like this if: You love leather seats in your classic car.
